Minor Hockey Kicks Off Fundraising Events for the Community Centre

Millbrook and District Minor hockey has been hard at work for the month of June.

While the ice has been out of the current rink for a few months now, we have been prepping for the upcoming hockey season.

Summer isn’t “break time” for the MDMHA Board of Directors. There is a lot to be done to raise the much needed funds for the now under construction Cavan Monaghan Community Centre. We started the month off with two events on June 2nd. During the day we had permission from Nexicom to use the street between their buildings to host a Road Hockey tournament. We had 16 teams in 4 divisions all come out to play. We were blessed with perfect weather for the day and were able to raise approx. $1400 towards the new CMCC Project. That evening we ran a Country 105 video dance in the arena and thanks to the help of so many volunteers it was another successful 1st try at such an event raising in excess of $3000.

On Father’s day MDMHA held our 4th annual golf tournament, used to raise funds for both Minor Hockey and the CMCC project. Thanks to all our golfers who participated plus our generous sponsors we were able to raise much needed funds to be divided between the two.

Finally, last weekend we held our 1st Softball tournament. While we were not able to fill the tournament, the weather cooperated well enough to make it a highly successful day with everyone having a blast and both Championship teams and the 50/50 winner all donating their winnings back to the tournament.

We have more things planned in the coming months, so please keep an eye out and watch our website www.millbrookhockey.com for updates.
