On Friday November 17th, the Millbrook Stars Bantam Green travelled to Lambton Shores to compete in the International Silver Stick Regional tournament.  We played our first game against Strathroy Rockets Blue and pulled off a 4 – 0 victory giving our Goalie his 1st tournament shutout.

Our second game of the tournament we faced the Chatsworth Rebels.  This game was a bit of a barn burner as the long drive and a night of team building at the hotel had caught up to the players.  The kids were successful and fought their way back with an 8 – 6 victory.  With game 2 under our belts a little rest and a hot meal, the team came back stronger and destroyed the Woolwich Wildcats 2 with a score of 9 – 2.

The start of day three placed the team into the quarter finals, where the kids fought the New Hamburg Huskies to pull off their fourth win with a 4 – 2 victory.  The team was on a roll and getting stronger as the tournament progressed.  Our semifinal game was against the Woolwich Wildcats 1, the Millbrook Stars were unstoppable and won 7 – 4.  Now heading to the finals and the Silver Stick Championship was within our reach.  The team refueled and rested to prepare for the championship game. The Millbrook Stars Green faced the BCH Ice Dogs, the puck dropped and 8 seconds later we had our first goal.  This set the pace for the final game.  Forty minutes later, the final score was 7 – 4 and the team was lining up on the blue line to receive their Championship Silver Stick banner and gold medals.  Congratulations kids…
