Jessica Grieve takes on another challenge.

Hair removal is a service appreciated by both sexes and interest in this grooming service has been growing. These are some of the reasons that Jessica Grieve decided to head in this direction in her search for a part-time service business to launch in the area, veering away from her initial inclination towards the food industry. Her recent maternity leave provided her with the time to develop her skills and hone her vision for her business. Armed with certification in two beauty treatments and a supportive spouse, she has launched her business offering a variety of personal beauty services in the Oasis Boutique location on King Street in Millbrook.

She acquired certification in the Alexandria Professional in Sugar Hair Removal process, a service she had appreciated as a customer. This ancient but less familiar hair removal technique known as “sugaring” has existed for centuries, and was particularly popular in ancient Egypt. It is gaining appeal these days in part because it uses only 3 natural ingredients- water, lemon and sugar- resulting in a product that is so harmless it is actually edible but more importantly it is very safe and skin friendly.

The process applies this water soluble paste at room temperature, so it can’t burn the skin and can be easily rinsed away. Unlike the waxing process, in sugaring the paste is applied in the natural direction of hair growth, where it seeps into the hair follicle, helping to lubricate the hair root and easing its removal. Because hair is removed in the direction in which it grows, rather than “against the grain”, the process is less painful than waxing, and users suggest that treatments result in the depletion of the hair follicles with subsequent growth finer and less visible.

To broaden her service offerings, Jessica has completed the certification process for eyelash and eyebrow tinting at Glow Academy’s Yorkville Campus. This is a temporary beauty enhancement technique which darkens the lashes and eyebrows to make these features more prominent without the application of makeup. The process takes only 15 minutes and the results last up to three for eyelashes and six weeks for eyebrows. It is particularly effective for fair-haired customers who are looking for a way to look good and speed up their morning makeup routine.

Services are available on Saturday and during the evenings. For more information or to book an appointment, contact Jessica at 705-933-4321, by email at mailto:luxesugaring@outlook.comor visit her Facebook page at ww.facebook.com/luxesugaring. KG
