Local couple mounts crowd-funding campaign

Victor (Vic) and Lurline (Lin) Kester from Fraserville have taken on the task of helping a young South African reach his dream of playing hockey in Canada. Victor is a retired high school teacher from the local Board of Education and Lin is a retired operating room (OR) nurse from Toronto General Hospital. Vic and Lin are South African expatriates who immigrated to Canada 48 years ago. The couple is trying to help Wesley Krotz of Cape Town, South Africa, to pursue his dream of playing hockey in Canada. Wesley is a gifted athlete who has been playing hockey in South Africa since the age of 13. By age 15, Wesley was so good that he was selected to represent South Africa in the junior IHF Championships in Europe. He has represented South Africa for the last four years as a forward and a prolific goal scorer. However, Wesley cannot go further with hockey in South Africa, consequently he wishes to play hockey in Canada where he might be noticed by the NHL scouts…
