Kelly’s Crazy Kids’ Event Raises $2582 for MS

Kelly’s Crazy Kid’s Event Raises $2582 for Multiple Sclerosis

Last Friday evening, Kelly Armstrong and a host of sponsors, players and supporters met at the Lakeview Bowling alley for the 5th Annual MS Bowling event in support of MS.  The idea began with a discussion at Lakeview Bowl where Kelly’s son Cody had begun to participate in a local bowling league.  One Saturday, while discussing the upcoming walk for MS, and Kelly was explaining to Lakeview Bowl staff Shawn McNamara and Anthony Colacci that she was tired of going door to door to ask people for donations for this event.  They suggested that she try a different approach, find a few sponsors and rent a few lanes, and so it began. In their first year, they rented 5 lanes, but attendance at the event filled 8 lanes.  In the second year, Kelly secured 10 sponsors, but word about the event continued to spread so Kelly and her husband bought 8 more lanes to meet the demand.  This year there were so many in attendance that they rented the entire bowling alley – all 24 lanes!  With the help of social media, Kelly`s group organized 32 sponsors whose donations covered the entire rental cost and provided extra funds for some great door prizes.  This allowed family, friends and new friends to bowl two games in return for a donation towards MS.

Kelly was delighted with the results, and is grateful to the sponsors and to all who packed the bowling alley to have fun for a great cause.  She invites you to join her on the Walk for MS taking place on Sunday May 29th at St. Peter’s Secondary School.
