Century Barn Weddings and Events developed and operated by Dave and Susan Stewart, recently sponsored a jazz festival in their barn which has been lovingly transformed into a spectacular venue for weddings and other special events.

The free jazz festival was hosted for invited neighbours and vendors as a way for the Stewarts to say “thank you” to their neighbours and wedding vendors for supporting them during the 2016 season. According to Stewart, approximately ten vendors work with her for the weddings. The vendors include DJs, florists, photographers, food providers, decorators, wedding planners and of course the preachers, rabbis, priests and ministers. These vendors generate approximately 100 jobs for the people who actually do the work including those who arrange the flowers in vases, stir the pots of beans and hang decorations on the walls and ceilings. The Stewarts rely on local suppliers in order to better the local economy.

For the jazz festival, the music was supplied by the Standard Time Trio from Peterborough playing their keyboard, bass and drums. Their soft swaying music enhanced the atmosphere in the barn with the setting sun, soft breeze and ideal temperatures to wash over the attendees.

David Stewart is looking to next year, working on options for heating the barn in a manner that will enable them to extend the wedding season by a few more weeks into the fall. His wife Susan notes, that they already have bookings for 2017 and 2018. Apparently some people do not elope in the night but instead they plan ahead for a year or two.
