In case you missed it, Cody Caldwell’s Wheelchair Rugby Team took the gold medal in last month’s Para Pan Games, beating out the rival US team in a tight game. The team started slow and was behind half way through the event, but brought a strong finish, edging out the US with a score of 57-54. They have a few weeks to enjoy the victory before heading over to London, England next month for an elite tournament with the six top teams in the world, an event which Cody describes as one that provides “bragging rights” to the winner. The best part of clinching gold is that the Canadian team is guaranteed a spot at the Olympic Games in Rio next summer, and the opportunity to have another dream come true on an international stage.
