Pineneedle Farms has been a family business operating in the Pontypool area for several generations. During the 1950’s, Pontypool was the largest supplier of Christmas trees in North America. Many local landowners had signed 12 year leases to Christmas tree growers who would harvest the most pleasingly proportioned specimens when the trees reached the desired size. Many mature stands of Scotch Pine in the area are the remnants of these commercial efforts.
