Wrapping up a successful season with a friendly parent/player competition, this diverse group of midget players formed a tightly knit team throughout the season.

Midget is always and interesting age group as it’s the only age group that encompasses 3 birth years of players. For the 1st years it’s the beginning of their final stage of their minor hockey careers, and for the majority of 3rd years, it will be their final season on minor hockey. With such a wide age range it can sometimes be tough for the kids to all get along, but this years team was one of the most tightly knit groups I’ve seen in a while. I would truly call this group not only a TEAM but a family, players and parents included. It was a joy to watch these 18 boys and 1 girl play this season.   To come together in adversity and not let tough loses get to them. They finished the season with a winning 19-13-3 record in league play.   They also played in 3 tournaments with their best showing coming in our nations capitial for the 12th Annual Capital HL Championship where they came 6th out of 32 teams. They also finished their regular season in 3rd place in the Tri-County league. They wrapped up their season Friday night with a fantastic Parents vs Players game that was a great ending to a wonderful season. As a parent of one of the 3rd years who is “graduating” minor hockey to move on to a great career in Men’s Beer League, I’d like to say a big thank you to our bench staff: Dale Power, Roland Greber, Jamie Gray, Kelly Maloney and Carla Gray for volunteering your time for our kids. Volunteers are the backbone of all Minor sports associations and they deserve our thanks. Good luck next season to all the returning players and Go Stars Go!!
