On Saturday, October 3rd the Edgewood Park community worked magic when they came together to host the 3rd Edgewood Park Road Hockey Tournament. The Edgerton’s, the St.Thomas’ and the Day’s spearheaded the fundraiser for 4 year old Shanna Timms, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia 4 days after Shanna and her twin sister started junior kindergarten in September. For this event we added a huge raffle table and Live Auction. The total raised in support of the Timms was an amazing $22,615.50! The Timms are overwhelmed with the support and the love the community has shown! Shanna’s parents, Steve and Brittany are so very grateful that so many friends, family and strangers have shown them that NO ONE FIGHTS CANCER ALONE! Steve and Brittany feel entirely blessed to live in such a close-knit community! Steve and Brittany are going to use the money to get the best care Shanna needs. The Hospital for Sick Children has taken such phenomenal care of Shanna. HSC has been a life line from day one of this difficult journey. The Ronald McDonald House has provided Brittany and Shanna a home away from home and a place away from the hospital where they can be together to get support and be comfortable. The Timms cannot say enough wonderful things about both The Hospital for Sick Children and The Ronald McDonald House. Steve and Brittany are planning to pay it forward when their battle against cancer is finished in 28 months to these two wonderful organizations so that families just like them can continue to get the support they all deserve. The Edgewood Park community wishes Shanna a speedy recovery to get home fast to her parents and her twin sister, Rachel. NO ONE FIGHTS CANCER ALONE!
