Create Your Dream Job This Summer with Economic Development’s Summer Company

Peterborough Economic Development’s Business Advisory Centre is now accepting applications to the Summer Company program for 2017.

This is a youth entrepreneurship program that connects youth ages 15-29 with training, mentorship and funding to start a summer business. This year 13 grants up to $3000 are available for students between the ages of 15-29 from the City and County of Peterborough. Last year, Peterborough Economic Development provided young entrepreneurs with over $150,000 in funding through the Summer Company and Starter Company programs.

The program is administered by the Peterborough Economic Development’s Business Advisory which helps students navigate the business plan writing process and financial management issues. Throughout the summer, students have the opportunity to take part in workshops and training covering such topics as: mastering social media; marketing and sales; managing business risk; and networking.

“The experience that student entrepreneurs gain through Summer Company sets them on the path to future success.” explains Sandy Greenberg, Peterborough Economic Development’s Business Advisory Centre Lead, “We provide students with training, mentorship and funding of up to $3000. The experience they gain through the program goes a long way toward setting them up for future success.”

The deadline for applications is May 6, 2017. This popular program is first-come, first-served and spaces fill quickly.
