County Passes 2014 Budget

The 2014 County budget was approved by County Council at their April 2 meeting. According to the press release, the approved budget will see a tax rate increase, net of assessment growth, of 1.88%.

“This budget represents an extremely responsible approach to fiscal management.” said J. Murray Jones, Peterborough County Warden. “We have approved a budget which continues to focus on our infrastructure needs and our core services delivery”.

In describing the impact to County residents, CAO Gary King, in a presentation to Cavan Monaghan Council this week, as part of his annual review, reported that a residential property assessed at $200,000 would pay approximately $5 more in County taxes this year over last.
