Community Choir Spring Concert Features Local Family Performance

This spring’s Community Choir concert features a musical family that will perform with our local singers.

Called Rhythm and Grace, the Duketow family of Lakefield loves to create and share music, ranging from Celtic, Classical, Gospel, and fun original folk/pop songs.

Parents Miriam and Alex along with their 6 oldest children ages 6 to 16 create and deliver performances that include fiddling, guitar, piano, energetic step-dancing, accordion, in well-known songs, original creations as well as some classical pieces.  The family provides music at weddings and community concerts. When they’re home, they are building a rapidly growing repertoire of original songs. Their songs feature a Celtic style as well as bluesy tones accented by vocal harmonies and percussive step-dancing.

In its 27th year, this choir draws its 40 members from across Peterborough County thanks largely to the talent and enthusiasm of Choir director Mark Hiscox and accompanist Justin Hiscox.  They have arranged a wide selection of music for all tastes, including classics such as “At Last” and “Proud Mary” as well as a selection of songs from the sixties for the choir’s last performance of the season.

Join them on May 27th at 2pm at the Millbrook Christian Assembly Church, 71 King Street West. Tickets are $12 adult and $30 family, with refreshments following the concert. KG
