Cavan Monaghan Libraries Kept Kids Busy over March Break

Hosting a wide variety of activities, including movie marathons, games days and fire safety events, our local library staff ensured there was lots to do over the March break week at both local facilities.

After a Hunger Games movie marathon, each branch put on a “Games Day” where 57 children, youth, parents and caregivers joined library staff to play family board games together, introducing participants to new and familiar games that families can play together at home.

On Thursday and Friday each Branch, hosted a “Fire Safety” program from the “Learn not to Burn” Curriculum offered by the Fire Department. The Firefighters came prepared, arriving in a fire truck, fully dressed in their uniforms, and shared information about how we can stay safe in case of a fire. They allowed the children to climb through the truck and we even got to see the flashing lights and hear the sirens. There was a crowd of 70 participants who came out and to meet these local heroes during this two day event. The Cavan Monaghan Library staff was delighted with the level of community participation for these events and look forward to continuing to provide interesting and informative programs like this for the community.
