The following are some regular, recurring community events in Cavan-Monaghan.

Community Care Millbrook – Services, Events:

Monthly Support Group for Caregivers of Individuals with Dementia:

Information on coping strategies, education and sharing designed to enhance the support system of those dealing with the challenges of caring for loved ones with dementia. Meetings held at Centennial Place in Millbrook. Service is free of charge. Millbrook/Cavan United Church Meat Pies:   Third Monday of October, November, January-June inclusive.  Orders must be placed by the second Sunday of the month for pick up on the following Monday at the Lions’ Den at County. Rd.10 and Larmer Line.  Cost: 1 dozen $30.00. 1/2 dozen $15.00.     Please contact Marion at 705-749-0111 or Jane at 705-741-1357.

 

Activities – Children & Youth:

Local Guiding groups: 

  • Sparks– ages 5 to 6 and Brownies– ages 7 to 8 meet Wednesdays from 6 pm to 7:15 at the Millbrook Family Centre, 1 Dufferin St., Millbrook.
  • Guides- ages 9 to 11 and Pathfinders ages 12 to 14 meet Mondays from 6:30 to 8pm at St Thomas Anglican Church,  Centre St Millbrook.
  • Rangers- 14+ meet Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 pm at Westdale United Church, at 1509 Sherbrooke St., Peterborough. Any Questions please contact Cathy at 705-932-3124

Family Centre Stay n’ Play:  Tues, Thurs, 9:30am-1pm, at the Old Millbrook School Family Centre, 1 Dufferin St, Millbrook (below library).  Free. All children & caregivers welcome.

Cavan Monaghan Libraries Storytime:  Storytime 2.0 Thursdays at 10 am at the Bruce Johnston Branch and Fridays in Millbrook at 10 am.  For ages 6 mo-5 yrs & caregivers.

St Thomas’ Kids’ Club: (Most) Sunday mornings from 10.30 – 11.30 am in the Anglican Parish Hall, 16 Centre Street, Millbrook.  Games, outdoor education activities, sewing, cooking, scavenger hunts, crafts, story-telling, outings, and many more worthwhile & fun-filled activities!! A welcoming, safe, and inclusive group open to all kids.  Parents or care-givers welcome too! Ontario-certified outdoor education teacher on leadership team.
