The following are some regular, recurring community events in Cavan-Monaghan. For more events click on our Community Calendar for upcoming events in our area!

Community Services & Announcements:

United Church Meat Pies: available at the Lions’ Den on the 3rd Monday morning of September to November, January to June. Pre-order by 2nd Sunday of each month. $30/doz. or $15/½ doz. Please call Marion at 705-749-0111 or Jane at 705-741-1357.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 402, Millbrook:

Darts: Wednesdays at 7:30 pm.  Register at 7:30 p.m., play at 8:00 p.m.

Progressive Euchre: Wednesday afternoons 1:00 p.m. $3.00 per person

Euchre Tournament: Friday, October 13th at 6:30 pm in the club room.  Register at 6:30 p.m., play at 7:00 p.m. $5.00 per person, blind draw for partners.

Jamboree: Sunday, Nov. 5th from 1 pm to 5pm featuring Just Plain Country. Tickets $7.00 per person, light lunch available.

Bingo: Thursday evenings from 7 to 9:30 – Dauber bingo early bird game starts at 7:00 p.m. Nevada tickets and food booth.  Age of majority event.

Legion Market Place: Sunday Nov 19th from 11 am to 3 pm, Vendors offering, jewellery, crafts, leggings, skin products, handbags, yard sale items, fishing products.  BBQ lunch available.

Pub Sunday: Sunday Nov. 26th from3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Entertainment by Crossroads.  Dinner- 5:00 p.m. – Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing vegetable, coleslaw and dessert- $14.00 per person.

Community Care Millbrook – Services, Events:

Monthly Support Group for Caregivers of Individuals with Dementia:

Information on coping strategies, education and sharing designed to enhance the support system of those dealing with the challenges of caring for loved ones with dementia. Meetings held at Centennial Place in Millbrook. Service is free of charge. “New” Tai Chi – Beginner class:  Mondays at 10 am from Sept 18th to Dec 4th at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 16 Centre St. Millbrook

“New” Sharing Dance: Wednesdays at 10am from Sept 20th to Nov 7th – exercise/dance class for all fitness levels at St. Thomas Anglican Church.

Sit & be Fit Yoga: Stretch and strengthen with Yoga Poses, Mondays and Wednesdays at 9 am at St. Thomas Anglican Church at 16 Centre St., Millbrook and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 am at the Millbrook Manor

Group Fit: Dynamic aerobics classes for all fitness levels, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 am at St. Thomas Anglican Church

Be Fit: Exercises that will improve and maintain strength and flexibility, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 am at St. Thomas Anglican

Sharing Dance: Exercise/dance classes for all fitness levels, Wednesdays at 10 am from Sept. 20th to Nov. 7th at St. Thomas Anglican

Yoga:  Stretch and strengthen, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:15 at St. Thomas Anglican Church

“New” Line Dancing:  Beginner classes on Fridays at 10 am from Sept 22nd to Dec 8th at St. Thomas Anglican Church.

Coffee Club: Tuesday & Thursday mornings at 11:30 am at the Millbrook Manor, Monday and Wednesday at 10 am and Tuesday & Thursday mornings at 10:45am at St. Thomas Anglican Church

Community Care Blood Pressure Clinic: Wednesday, Nov. 15th at 10:30 am at the Millbrook Manor no clinic this month at the Millbrook Legion.

Monthly Luncheon:  Thursday, Nov. 23rd at noon at the Millbrook Legion. Tickets $10.00.  On the menu-  1/4 chicken dinner

Activities – Children & Youth:

Music and Movement:  Monday, Nov. 20th from 10 to 11 am at Centennial Place’s Fireside Lounge, 10-11am. Free drop in program for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers hosted by the Old Millbrook School Family Centre.   Please feel welcome to bring a snack for after the program, and have some time to socialize.

Local Guiding groups: 

  • Sparks– ages 5 to 6 and Brownies– ages 7 to 8 meet Wednesdays from 6 pm to 7:15 at the Millbrook Family Centre, 1 Dufferin St., Millbrook.
  • Guides- ages 9 to 11 and Pathfinders ages 12 to 14 meet Mondays from 6:30 to 8pm at St Thomas Anglican Church,  Centre St Millbrook.
  • Rangers- 14+ meet Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 pm at Westdale United Church, at 1509 Sherbrooke St., Peterborough. Any Questions please contact Cathy at 705-932-3124

Family Centre Stay n’ Play:  Tues, Thurs, 9:30am-1pm, at the Old Millbrook School Family Centre, 1 Dufferin St, Millbrook (below library).  Free. All children & caregivers welcome.

Cavan Monaghan Libraries Storytime:  Storytime 2.0 Thursdays at 10 am at the Bruce Johnston Branch and Fridays in Millbrook at 10 am.  For ages 6 mo-5yrs & caregivers.

St Thomas’ Kids’ Club: (Most) Sunday mornings from 10.30 – 11.30 am in the Anglican Parish Hall, 16 Centre Street, Millbrook.  Games, outdoor education activities, sewing, cooking, scavenger hunts, crafts, story-telling, outings, and many more worthwhile & fun-filled activities!! A welcoming, safe, and inclusive group open to all kids.  Parents or care-givers welcome too! Ontario-certified outdoor education teacher on leadership team.
