The Township budget passed with little comment last month, with Council approving a 3.5% hike in the municipal portion of the local property tax bills. The County has only just begun its budget talks, with staff presenting a first draft last week. The preliminary numbers include a 3.96% rate increase on the county tax bill, resulting from pressure on the operating side as well as from infrastructure spending requirements, according to their Director of Finance/Treasurer Trena DeBruijn. Budget discussions begin at next week’s Special Budget meeting scheduled for March 7th. KG
